Certificate of Analysis (COA)
Effective Date: [Insert Date]
At Hiatus, transparency is one of our core commitments. We want you to know exactly what you're consuming—which is why every batch of our hemp-derived Delta-9 THC beverages is tested by a DEA-registered third-party laboratory, and the results are made available here.
This page is where you’ll find the official Certificate of Analysis (COA) for each product batch. These lab reports verify potency, purity, and compliance, so you can feel confident in the quality and consistency of your Hiatus product.
What Is a Certificate of Analysis?
A Certificate of Analysis, or COA, is a document issued by a certified lab that provides detailed test results for a specific product batch. It confirms the cannabinoid profile, verifies compliance with legal limits for THC, and checks for the presence of contaminants such as heavy metals, solvents, pesticides, and microbes.
Every Hiatus COA comes from an accredited laboratory registered with the DEA, using validated methods and strict chain-of-custody protocols. Testing is conducted on every batch before it is packaged and shipped.
Why COAs Matter
In the world of hemp-derived products, COAs are a vital form of accountability. Not all brands are transparent about what’s in their products, and some may not test at all—or only test individual ingredients, not finished goods.
At Hiatus, we:
-
Test every finished batch, not just the raw extract.
-
Post every COA publicly.
-
Include the batch number on each can or package, so you can match it directly to the report.
-
Provide a QR code on every product that links to this page.
-
Only release products that pass all relevant tests for safety and compliance.
Publishing COAs protects our customers and ensures we maintain the highest quality standards.
How to Read a COA
Reading a COA can be overwhelming at first, but it’s straightforward once you know what to look for. Here's a breakdown of the key sections:
1. Sample Identification
This section includes the product name, batch number, test date, and sometimes the lab's sample ID. Make sure this matches the information on your product.
2. Cannabinoid Profile
This chart lists the cannabinoids present in the product, such as:
-
Delta-9 THC
-
CBD
-
Total THC
-
Total Cannabinoids
-
Other minor cannabinoids (CBG, CBN, etc.)
Each cannabinoid is reported in either milligrams per gram (mg/g), milligrams per unit, or as a percentage. For beverages, the critical number is Delta-9 THC percentage by weight, which must be at or below 0.3% to remain federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill.
3. Heavy Metals and Contaminants
This section shows whether the product contains measurable levels of heavy metals like lead, arsenic, cadmium, or mercury. For each metal, you’ll see:
-
The detection level
-
The limit allowed by law
-
A result marked as “ND” (Not Detected) if no trace was found
A clean panel means your product is safe and passes regulatory standards.
4. Microbial and Residual Solvents Testing
This verifies that the product is free from biological contaminants like mold, yeast, E. coli, and Salmonella, as well as solvents used in the extraction process. Like metals, these will show up with pass/fail results and specific detection levels.
5. Pass/Fail Status
Most COAs include a summary table showing whether each test passed or failed. All Hiatus products must pass all required panels before they are released for sale.
